Sandblasting is one of the quickly emerging services when it comes to all-things restoration. Great for restoring cars, trucks and motorcycles to their former glory, sandblasting is an effective way to strip away the original coating in preparation for new paint.
In fact, the sandblasting method is so popular, its use exceeds the automotive industry. It can be used with many metal items to remove the original paint and get a newer, updated coat. Offering one of the most reliable sandblasting services in Sydney, the Bodytech Automotive team has witnessed this first-hand.
Sandblasting is an in-demand service as it can be used to restore numerous objects. Since opening this part of the business, we’ve had customers enquiring about a range of vehicles. But evenmore so, we’ve also had a lot of interest in sandblasting pre-owned items such as garden furniture and general household appliances.
To explore some of the non-car restorations on which we’ve used our sandblasting services, check out the work we’ve previously done.
Appliances
Do you have an older or vintage appliance you’d like to restore? Many appliances can be sandblasted due to their metal base. When we opened our sandblasting services, a client brought in their vintage Coca-Cola mini fridge to be restored.
This fridge is a garage and milk bar icon that is recognised worldwide. When it first came to us, it was worn with its original paint peeled and rusted. We stripped the paint through sandblasting in an extensive yet thorough process.
Once all the old paint and rust were removed, we primed and prepped the base, giving it a white coat before providing the secondary colour coat to make it iconic red. After this, we finished the finer detailer, painting the logo and text. The results speak for themselves!
Outdoor garden furniture
After a while, metal outdoor garden furniture will slowly rust and wear from the weather and harsh conditions outside. If you want to restore your outdoor metal furniture for further use or resell, sandblasting is the ultimate solution.
When this outdoor setting came to us, it was old and rusted. First, we sandblasted the furniture to clean it back to bare metal. Then we coated it with an epoxy primer before finishing it with a gloss white coat. The whole set had never looked better!
Screen Doors
Why buy new products when you can restore existing ones? If you’re looking to save money or you simply like the original features your home came with, repair it. Screen doors are the perfect example, as the base is compatible with a sandblaster.
One of our customers brought in this retro screen door. They wanted to keep the original aesthetic but knew it needed a facelift as it was riddled with rust. Using our services, they trusted us to bring it back to life. Our team sandblasted the rust and existing paint from the surface before priming and coating it in a gloss white powder coat. Good as new!
